Trip Planning Essentials

4 hours by bus from San Pedro Sula, 20 minutes from Guatemala border (El Florido). Closest airport: Ramón Villeda Morales (SAP).

Dry season Dec–Apr offers ideal weather (15–28°C ≈ 59–82°F). August is also popular despite the rainy season. May–June and September are prominent rainy seasons, bringing more humid conditions; however, “rainy” doesn’t mean nonstop rain all day; it’s more about the frequency and intensity of showers. Typically, mornings remain clear, while afternoon downpours become common. With an umbrella and flexible schedule, you can still enjoy a visit during these months—just be prepared for the daily rhythm of sunshine followed by a burst of rain in the later day.

Light layers, hiking shoes, rain jacket (May–Nov), insect repellent, sunscreen, camera, cash (lempiras preferred).

Archaeological Park hours: 8am–5pm daily. Tuk-tuks cost ~L20 around town. Many locals speak English. Copán is very safe for tourists.
